rawkfist

My kids love Air1. I love that we can listen to it as a family and I don't have to worry about inappropriate lyrics, ads, or interviews. I also love that while it is Christian music, it is rock! I have spent the majority of my Christian life rejecting Christian radio because it was too slow and borrrr-ing. Then we found Air1, and my attitude about Christian music has made a complete 180. So that's the backdrop for my post today...

Just had to school my kids in the fine art of throwing up their "rock fists!" Sure, I was DRIVING when I showed them the double "rock fist," but it was a teachable moment and this was an IMPORTANT life lesson.

So this was my facebook update a while back. I think it's pretty funny, so I wanted to write about it today. Though I have heard this song on Air1 many times and I LOVE IT - I had no idea what the lyrics to the whole song were, so I decided to do some research to appear more educated on this topic...

...here is what I found out.
  • First - I spelled "rock fist" wrong. It is actually rawkfist. Who knew?
  • Second - even though I looked up the lyrics and have read - and re-read - them, I still have no idea what this song is about. I think it's just a fun song without a super deep message - but I've been wrong before. Once.
  • Third - even though I tried, I cannot appear more educated about this song.
  • Fourth - they play it on Air1, so even if I don't get it, I know it's safe.
So back to my facebook post. Even though I may not understand the deep, underlying message in this song, I totally get how to rock. And now, because I used an opportune moment, and sacrificed driving safety protocols, my kids know how to rock too.

Rock on. Have fun. Honor God.

Thousand Foot Krutch ~ Rawkfist Lyrics

Throw up your rockfist if you're feelin it when I drop this. Show 'em how we blow the spot,
Let's make it hot, Let's shock 'em with the bodyrock 'til the party stops. It's time to take
it up a notch, and keep it locked, for all the headbangers in the parking lot. Here we come, if
you're ready or not. No time to talk. Cause we on the clock bringin that Uhh, Uhh, to your
block. Let me show ya where we're comin from, it don't stop, from L.A. to New York. Show me
what you got now!

All I know, is what it did take to make this, All I am, is what it will take to break this.
All I know, is what it did take to make this. All I am is what it will take to break this.
Light it up now, Light it up now.

Try runnin me down, keep runnin around, I'm fakin you out, would you just, make it what you
want it to be, about to find out, what you're all about, I'm callin you out, won't ya just set
me free. Try runnin me down, keep runnin around, I'm fakin you out, would you just, make it
what you want it to be, about to find out, what you're all about, I'm callin you out, won't ya
just set me free.

All I know, is what it did take to make this, All I am, is what it will take to break this.
All I know, is what it did take to make this. All I am is what it will take to break this.
Light it up now, light it up now.

Throw up your rawkfist if you're feelin it when I drop this. Uhh, Uhh, That's the sound when
the rock hits. Oh, you never know, I might let go. Just roll, roll. Get ready, Get set. Throw
up your rawkfist if you're feelin it when I drop this. Uhh, Uhh, That's the sound when the rock
hits. Oh, you never know, I might let go. Just roll, roll. Get ready, Get set.

That's the sound when the rock hits, that's the sound when the rock hits, that's the sound
when the rock hits. Jump, jump! Make the sound when the rock hits,

Throw up you rockfist if you're feelin it when I drop this.
